Roland Brock
Professor of Biochemistry, Group Leader Targeted Nanomedicines Radboud University Medical Center
Prof. Roland Brock is professor of Biochemistry at Radboud university medical center, Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and head of the group of Targeted Nanomedicines. His research focuses on the development, mechanistic understanding and application of delivery technology, in particular for mRNA and antisense oligonucleotides. In these activities, microfluidic tissue-on-a-chip systems and advanced microscopy techniques play major roles. Prof. Brock is (co-)author of > 150 peer reviewed articles and co-founder of RiboPro and Mercurna, directed at mRNA services and mRNA therapeutics.
Seminars
- Evaluating how LNP composition and targeting strategies influence biodistribution, cellular uptake and off-target exposure across preclinical models
- Improving peptide-based nanoparticle activity through formulation optimisation, using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to understand particle morphology and structure-activity relationships
- Investigating endosomal escape and cellular trafficking using quantitative livecell microscopy to understand how nanoparticle structure influences transfection efficiency
- Leveraging tissue-on-a-chip models to evaluate nanoparticle penetration, tissue retention and cell-specific transfection before progressing into animal studies
