Yousra Yahia
Associate Principal Scientist AstraZeneca
Yousra Yahia is an Associate Principal Scientist at AstraZeneca, she works within the Genome Engineering department in Gothenburg, Sweden. Her work focuses on designing, supporting, and leading innovative therapeutic genome engineering projects at the pre-clinical stage. Prior to AstraZeneca, Yousra was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research and Helmholtz Zentrum München. She completed her PhD at the Institut de Génétique Moléculaire de Montpellier, where she studied RNA polymerase II regulation, histone modifications and the epigenetic landscape of immune cells.
Seminars
- Engineering compact CRISPR-based gene and epigenetic editors that can be efficiently delivered as mRNA in vivo
- Optimising mRNA architecture and delivery to achieve sufficient intracellular editor expression from a transient dose
- Demonstrating how short-lived editor expression can generate long-lasting gene silencing or therapeutic effects without requiring persistent expression
